Appreciate the comment. The response as to where/how she has attained her powers will almost certainly be answered (if not, Disney will have dropped the ball) in Episode 9. The “Mary Sue” criticism is unfair until the story plays out. “Star Wars” is a gradually unfolding saga. To your question, her powers have yet to be explained. The criticism though, in my opinion, is needless. Did we know Vader was Luke’s father in Ep 4? No. Luke’s lineage wasn’t explained (it wasn’t written yet, but nonetheless). The point is, again, SW is a multi-part franchise where current books and comics are all part of canon. If I don’t know the answer to a dangling plot thread in one chapter, I expect it will come later. See Vader’s father in the new comic. Same thing. Now we know he’s not Jesus-light.
