How Difficult is it, Really, To Be an Honest Writer on an Unmoderated Writing Platform?
Answer: For those with no agenda, it should not be an issue at all. The reality, though, is more complex.
You can be an honest writer on any platform that will accept your honesty. Easy-peasy. Largely unmoderated platforms such as this one are the easiest in that regard.
Why then, the reluctance? Why do so many writers hold back on their honest thoughts? Perhaps because those who care believe their honest thoughts would be considered offensive to the masses? Because those who do not give a damn nonetheless believe their marketability will suffer?
In my humble opinion, the answer is a combination of both. My personal philosophy of writing: Those who are audacious are those who get noticed. Similarly, those who are unafraid of naming names or risking offense of an individual or group in so doing are those who are most discussed.
That said, let’s talk about the elephant in the room: so-called “cancel culture,” which effectively can ruin careers in this era.
I don’t give a damn, seriously. I’m either true to myself in my writing, or a liar.
