I’m Enraged and Not a Bit Surprised a “Cold-Reading” Medium Exploited My Deceased Wife
I’ve had it with cold-reading charlatans who take advantage of those in grief.
I expect this article will be cheered by some and excoriated by others. It’s actually a no-win, which is how I prefer it and I’ll explain why.
I’ll give you the short answer: For every reader who will applaud my attempt at exposing the inner workings of mediums and psychics by openly sharing tricks of the trade I learned at an early age as a young wannabe mentalist, another will insist he, she or they possess those abilities themselves or have partaken in readings that were downright scary in their accuracy.
I believe those believers, actually. I also believe when in certain states of vulnerability one hears what they want — or need — to hear.
Amidst the burden of grief and the gradual readjustment to everyday life following my wife’s unexpected passing last November, I received several offers to speak to mediums from well-meeting friends who wanted to assure me Lorie was okay.
They said they already had on my behalf, and wanted me to speak to the mediums themselves.
Thanks but no thanks.
