Secrets and Lies: Donald Trump and the Decimation of the United States of America
He is in well over his head, and his determination to remain an individualist and dog whistler to his most extreme base is paying in human lives.

Let me try my best to articulate what I’m thinking.
I’ve been writing all day with the TV news on in the background. I see veteran reporters crying as they interview men and women who have lost beloved family members to Covid-19, some of whom could barely speak when they listen to their stories.
In the midst of this, Donald Trump participates in his daily briefing. He is, as usual, rude to a female reporter, this time for using the word “our.” He blames deaths on the prior administration. He gets political about U.S. governors, and says they should be responsible for their own states and closures. He talks about not wearing masks himself, despite a CDC recommendation.
Then I turn the channel and catch another news program. A Jared Kushner clip, an untrained putz who knows nothing about any of this and is partially leading the government response. The clip ends, a commercial airs. I take a break and get something to eat. I come back and another reporter is crying, this time as she listens to a wife tell the story about her 42 year-old school official husband, with no apparent past negative health history, who died of Covid-19.
I turn the channel again only to see new death statistics, and clips of Trump gibberish about masks and supplies that seems to contradict everyone else.
I go back to writing, finally turn off the TV, and listen to music from my Spotify because — as much as I do want this President to succeed in his efforts as it’s a matter of life and death for us and those we love — the truth is our U.S. government right now is a clusterfuck.
A damn clusterfuck, as the world burns, and it’s at the point where everyone has to be nice to the son of a bitch to get anything done on these shores.
In the meantime, Trump is advised one way, yet he elects to remain the supreme individualist and do his own thing.
God forbid anyone mentions the tortoise-slow initial response to the pandemic once again.
Trump supporters, please wear masks when you go outside, despite the mixed messages you’re being fed today. You’re not immune.
This President’s response, and his office, is an ongoing, increasingly deadly disaster, and all of those dying today of Covid-19 will one day be considered nothing more than statistics blamed on a failed Presidency.
Deceased loved ones will be nameless and faceless. They will be numbers, and they will be remembered as such.
It’s a hell of a legacy, based on a clusterfuck which just didn’t — and doesn’t — have to be.
I’m sickened today over what’s happening to my country.
