She Said to the Police Officer, “Now I Know Why Women Kill Their Abusers”
And the officer responded, “Well, I hope it doesn’t come to that,” after first saying there was nothing he could do.
Introduction
I am close with a fellow writer on this platform who recently tossed a two-year-old police report in the trash.
She wanted to move on with her life.
To be clear, she was not physically abused, though on a telephone call her boyfriend of 18 months threatened to ‘wring her neck’ when she tried to again break up with him.
That was her last straw. She called the cops.
The police officer referenced in the above subtitle did not believe the boyfriend’s words were enough of a threat to take action, despite her relaying to him the history of their abusive relationship.
My friend was emotionally abused. She was constantly shut down, as if a hand was over her mouth and anything she had to say lacked importance. Her boyfriend was a liar, who stole from her and cheated on her. He also wrecked her car, which skyrocketed her insurance premium.
Yet she stayed with him for 18 months and she continuously tells me how “stupid” she was when we get on…
