The Challenge of “Doing Without” For Fun and Profit

It is one of life’s most frequently misunderstood concepts. For those who choose to separate the two, it is also one of the most frequently misunderstood concepts in the world of finance.

Doing Without does not mean living a life of purely simple pleasures, nor does it mean sacrificing one’s joy as a human being for the trade-off of saving money.

To successfully adapt the concept requires first a change of perspective: Doing Without means maximizing one’s potential in all areas by prudently managing one’s assets and liabilities.

I selected the lead-off photo of this article for reason. In the image, I see a young woman in control of her circumstance. She is relaxed. She appears to have been reading a book likely of her own choosing but at the moment may be engaged in an act of reflection.

I look at that image and find myself wondering what the woman’s following day will be like, as it seems to me she is in her element following a long day of work.
