Why I Will Never Charge You For an Online Writing “Course”

Whatever information I elect to share on the web is meant to help you and pay it forward.

Let’s say I was reading Medium this morning. Let’s also say I was subsequently inspired to order a course from a given Medium writer, so as to effectuate the best possible results for my own efforts.

If I elected, at this stage in my life and career, to pay for a writing course and my wallet was at the ready, I’d be a bit flustered.

Why does it seem as though every other writer on Medium, who writes about the medium… is selling a course?

Who should I choose? Who should I believe?

Who will get me the best results for my hard-earned cash?

I’m going to quickly eliminate writers who discuss writing online exclusively, as there is no implication of training for a larger career, there. It’s all about making money — usually by taking advantage of aspiring writers — via promises of attaining a similar degree of “success.”

As in, “Order my course about online writing, and you will learn how to make money by selling your own course about online writing.”

Fuck off.

You are quite right about this very tired and worn-out concept. All these folks need to get the fuck over themselves. The world would be a better place for the rest of us.

Sounds like a pyramid scheme to me! People are wising up to MLMs, but this is the new equivalent.
Most things you could learn from an online course are probably available on YouTube for free. Also, Medium doesn't exist in a vacuum. The writing skills…
